Job Details
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and estates
- Lead tax consulting and planning engagements, delivering actionable advice to a diverse client portfolio
- Oversee preparation and review of gift tax returns, sales tax returns, and other specialty filings
- Supervise, coach, and develop junior tax staff through day-to-day workflow and technical review
- Serve as a primary client contact for tax matters, building and maintaining strong relationships across engagements
- Research complex federal and state tax issues and communicate conclusions clearly to clients and internal teams
- Collaborate with assurance and advisory colleagues on integrated, multi-service client engagements
- Support probate court accounting and estate-related tax compliance as needed
You Should Have Most of the Following
- Active CPA license or eligibility to obtain one
- Minimum of 5 years of public accounting experience with a primary focus on tax
- Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing returns across entity types: individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and estates
- Familiarity with gift tax, sales tax, and other specialty filing requirements
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize across multiple concurrent deadlines
- Proven ability to supervise and develop junior staff in a review capacity
- Proficiency with tax preparation and accounting software
- Working knowledge of California state and local tax rules and requirements
Nice to Have
- Exposure to Employee Benefit Plan compliance or audits
- Background in business valuations or forensic accounting engagements
- Prior experience leveraging a national or international firm network for technical research and support
