Job Details
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Review complex individual, corporate, partnership, and entity tax returns with strong technical judgment, catching issues and opportunities that less experienced staff may miss
- Serve as a day-to-day trusted advisor for a portfolio of business and individual clients, translating complex tax matters into clear and practical guidance
- Proactively identify tax-saving opportunities, planning ideas, and risks before clients raise them
- Manage workflow across multiple engagements to keep deadlines on track and reduce escalations to firm leadership
- Own client communication end-to-end so that nothing important gets stuck between clients, staff, and leadership
- Mentor junior team members, provide feedback on work product, and raise overall quality standards across the firm
- Support engagements involving closely held businesses, real estate investors, and healthcare and dental practices
- Reduce founder dependency by taking full ownership of client communication, technical review, and engagement execution
You Should Have Most of the Following
- 7 to 10 or more years of accounting experience, ideally in a public accounting environment
- Demonstrated ability to review complex tax returns across multiple entity types with confidence and sound judgment
- Genuinely client-facing communication style, with the ability to explain sophisticated tax issues in plain language
- Strong organizational habits: responsive, accountable, and capable of closing loops across multiple concurrent engagements without being managed
- Experience coaching or mentoring junior staff and holding standards without micromanaging
- Comfort owning outcomes and exercising independent judgment rather than waiting for direction
- A practical, quality-focused mindset that balances technical rigor with efficient execution
